Hologic to Buy Medical Imaging Company R2 Technology for $220
Million in Stock
BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) -- Hologic Inc., which makes digital imaging
equipment, said Monday it agreed to acquire medical imaging company
R2 Technology Inc. for $220 million in stock.
The company said the price per share will be equal to the 10-trading
day average closing price of Hologic's stock for the period ending
two trading days prior to the closing date.
Sunnyvale, Calif.-based R2, which specializes in computer-aided
detection -- a technology that assists radiologists in the early
detection of breast cancer -- posted revenue of about $45 million in
calendar 2005.
Hologic anticipates the deal will boost its earnings in fiscal 2007,
excluding amortization of intangibles. The transaction, which is
subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals, is expected to
close in the next two to three months.
Shares of the company added 43 cents to close at $51.64 on the
Nasdaq, and gained $1.35, or 2.6 percent, in aftermarket activity.

| This past weekend was a perfect Boston weekend. Brunch and shopping on Newbury Street, followed the next day by watching the Boston marathon. There is no better feeling than cheering on your friends who have signed up to run 26 grueling miles.
And it's even better when one of your friends has time to hug his crew, swig some beer, and STILL finish in 2 hours 30 minutes. Do you realize that is a 5.7 min/mile pace for 26 miles?!!! He finished in the top 50 of thousands of Boston marathoners -- he even managed to beat 2 Kenyans! I feel like such a proud mom, even though I had nothing to do with it. Pride by association can sometimes be good enough.
In case you were wondering, I was inspired. Just not inspired enough to ever want to run my own marathon...

| This is the house I lived in for an entire week during spring break. Pictures can't even do it justice. Breakfast, lunch, dinner cooked for us right by the pool. Private beach right below us. Beautiful sunsets every night.
I'll be happy to join the real world after graduation, but I need to pack in all the partying I can in the next few months. I'll try not to think about the debt I'm accumulating. By the way, EVERYONE on student loans should be consolidating their loans before July 1st. People should have done it last year, but you should do it again this year for new loans.

| Update on HBS Party Life...
I've actually been pretty low key this year. I enjoy my second
year more than my first year, but I definitely had more fun last
year. It's like the difference between freshman and senior year
of college. I was spending a lot of time recruiting -- will be
deciding between so cal and nor cal.
Anyway, I've been ramping up the partying because I realize I only have
a little more than a semester left!!! Went on my section retreat
two weekends ago. There are only a certain number of single
people in our section, so there are a limited number of permutations of
hook-ups or rumors of hook-ups. Lots of drama -- just like junior
high -- ridiculous since we're all in GRAD school.
Last weekend went to Miami with the girls. I feel sorry for guys
who never get to experience the power of being female. Shopped
for scandalous Miami tops. Hit all the hottest clubs and
bars. Got recruited by promoters to hit Mansion with free
admission, table, and drinks. Took over the Delano. Met a
random hot guy. Went to a party where they were taping Real World
Miami!!!
I can't believe this is only going to last for one more semester!!!!!!!!!
